Dan Chisholm

When hosting our second event in 2013, Dan kept a secret from the audience. He had just been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing surgery the following week.

After the long haul of treatment and recovery, he now hopes to be given the all-clear this year. If anyone knows the importance of the funds raised by you through today’s event, it’s him.

Dan wanted to be a radio presenter from the age of seven and left school at sixteen leaving his teachers doubting he could succeed without a degree. Forty years later, he’s still talking for a living.

His other passion is music; he has more than fifty-thousand tunes on his media player and away from radio is also a composer and music producer.

Hear Dan Chisholm on BBC Wiltshire, Somerset, Gloucester or Bristol each weekday night between ten and one. Do join him if you like a laugh and love your music.

PS: He wishes to remind you that in last year’s festival programme his Rock Tip for 2017 was Wayward Sons. 🙂

Andy Scott

When John (Grubby), Richard (Barney) and yours truly (aka Wizard don’t ask) came up with an idea for a concert at the Kings Arms Public House in All Cannings back in 2010 little did we know how it would change all our lives. So here we are seven years on and going strong with yet another stellar line-up of superstars!

The three of us had a good reason to push on and make Rock Against Cancer happen against all the odds. Each of us had more than a brush with that evil disease, Grubby and I were diagnosed with Prostate and Barney with Cancer of the eye socket. Rather than sink into despair we chose to give something back and use our creativity to raise funds in the fight against cancer. I am so proud of Grubby and Barney in the way that they have grasped the nettle and made our concert the success it has become. I cannot continue without mentioning the very talented local “crew”, without their help the event would not be possible.

This year I am not performing but will still appear on stage as a compère assisting my dear friend Dan Chisholm and I may well strap on a guitar at some point!

Are you ready Andy? Yeah!
